Gala Evening to Remember
The generosity of the Wenona community shone brightly at our recent Blooms and Boaters Gala Ball, which raised more than $200,000 for the Renaissance Women's Scholarship, in a record-breaking reflection of our shared commitment to transformational education.
The Renaissance Women's Scholarship provides life-changing opportunities for girls who may not otherwise have access to a Wenona education, providing a pathway for them to learn to lead with wisdom and courage.
Tickets for the event sold out in just one week and 600 guests, dressed in beautiful floral themes and elegant headpieces, transformed the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Sydney into a sea of beauty and colour.
During an evening of dancing and laughter, the guests were tempted by a vast range of desirable items in the silent auction and numerous raffles.

Their enjoyment was enhanced by our Master of Ceremonies, Wenona parent Monique Wright, a much-loved member of the team from the top-rating breakfast show, Sunrise. A memorable moment in her presentation, came when she shared a video of herself interviewing Wenona students, eliciting insights about their Wenona experiences and love for their School.

Silence filled the room as she chatted casually on stage with Principal, Ms Linda Douglas, posing questions that went straight to the heart of educational leadership. Her question about Ms Douglas's passion for girls' education drew thoughtful reflections, while her final inquiry: "What is your vision for the School?", drew measured responses that resonated throughout the ballroom.
The evening's success was made possible by the dedication of volunteers, committee members, donors, and guests who contributed their time, resources, and enthusiasm. From auction donations to event planning, each contribution was invaluable in creating both a memorable celebration and a meaningful impact.
The Wenona Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks to all who supported the evening, in particular Wenona Parents’ Association (WPA) President, Ms Sharmila Soorian and Treasurer, Mr Haydn O’Brien who together led the Gala Ball Committee. The generosity of the Wenona community is creating lasting change for future generations of young women and ensuring that hard work and ability, wherever it's found, has the opportunity to flourish, in the spirit of our motto, Ut Prosim, that I may serve.
